The first rumours for LEGO Marvel and DC have surfaced, and it looks like we'll be repeating the current year, so far, with Marvel being much more diverse.
The past couple of days have seen several LEGO rumours for 2027 surface, all of which are to be taken with caution. This includes reported lists of sets due for Marvel and DC early next year. As you can probably imagine, one is much smaller than the other.
DC's list of rumoured sets consists of just two Batmobile sets, though it's not yet confirmed whether this will be everything for January 2027. Compared to this year's selection of LEGO DC models, it's looking similarly small and focused on a certain Caped Crusader.
LEGO DC 2027 sets
| LEGO set | Price | Pieces | Release date |
|---|---|---|---|
| 67008 Batman Returns Batmobile vs The Duck | $59.99 | TBC | Jan 2027 |
| 67009 Arkham Knight Batmobile | $29.99 | TBC | Jan 2027 |
By contrast, LEGO Marvel's list of rumoured sets is bigger and more exciting. From rare characters like Scarlet Spider and Doctor Doom to new additions such as Demogoblin and Strange Supreme, the potential for minifigure is huge compared to DC's 2027 rumours.
LEGO Marvel 2027 sets

Such an outcome is to be expected when you look at LEGO Marvel and DC over the past couple of years. It's good to see that the rumours for both themes include at least one new subject, rather than retreading familiar territory. Still, the rumours suggest that DC fans are in for another quieter year of LEGO sets than those of Marvel.
At least the year isn't rumoured to be completely devoid of DC, unlike 2021. The lack of DC models that year was explained by designer Mark Stafford at LEGO Fan Media Days 2021.
“Look at the movies coming out,” Mark said. “We’ve got four Marvel movies and one DC [movie]. So it’s probably skewing what we’re doing at the moment. There’s lots of things we’d love to do… [but] there are four Marvel movies coming out, and one DC movie.”

This might help to explain why DC is rumoured to have fewer LEGO sets than Marvel in early 2027. DC's movie slate for 2027 currently includes the Man of Tomorrow Superman sequel and The Batman Part II. Both would be fodder for LEGO models, though the LEGO Group is more likely to lean into the latter film.
Marvel's movie slate for 2027 currently features Avengers: Secret Wars and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. The LEGO Group is likely to cover both of these in some form in the theme, based on prior releases.
While the cinematic schedules between Marvel and DC aren't as starkly different as they were in 2021, the number of past films and the potential of Marvel's current schedule make it more ripe for LEGO sets.
